To address this issue MRWL runs an established Sunshine Coast Biocontrol Facility at our nursery site. Since 2017, we currently breed two biocontrol agents:
- Leaf mining jewel beetle (Hylaeogena jureceki), for the control of Cat's claw creeper; and
- Madeira vine beetle (Plectonycha correntina) which attacks Madeira vine.
If you would like to participate in the Sunshine Coast Biocontrol Facility, please contact our Biocontrol Officer, Jessica (MRWL.projects@gmail.com) to learn more.
We are looking for volunteers and also provide community education events.
We are slowing getting back to normal following Covid-19 (Coronavirus), however some pick up processes for our Biocontrol bugs might be different from the last time you visited - please see the Landcare Nursery page for our opening days, phone us on (07) 5494 5074, or email Biocontrol on: MRWL.projects@gmail.com to arrange pick up. We appreciate your understanding during this temporary change.
